SOMMELIER

A sommelier is a wine steward, or a trained and knowledgeable wine professional, typically found in fine restaurants and across the hospitality industry. Sommeliers know which wines a restaurant has both on and off the wine list, and can help you find the right wine for your meal or occasion.

And love comes in at the eye;

That’s all we shall know for truth

Before we grow old and die”.

The Portlandian soil always gives it easier drinkability. From the first year, the wines are always very expressive and alternate between yellow fruits and salinity in cooler years and aromas of chalk and wet stones in warmer years. It is better advised to drink within 5 years if freshness is the requirement but it can very well be left 10 years or more. It goes perfectly with oysters.

It represents a family's journey to produce an Argentine Malbec that can stand with the great wines of the world.

Isabel Estate Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

The epitome of the Marlborough but benefiting from the estate’s old vines and the soils on the south-western corner of our estate, our Sauvignon Blanc ascends with lush aromatics of fresh tropical green fruit, grapefruit and gooseberry, balanced by a refreshing structural flinty minerality and creamy textured finish. Drinks beautifully young but also develops intriguing characters with age.

Common questions

Light-bodied, medium-bodied and full-bodied. Basically, it is the richness and weight of the wine in your mouth.

It is absolutely true that Chardonnay is so popular that it is nearly synonymous with white wine.

When certain solids & sediments are necessary to prevent or when the goal is the let the wine breath and open up flavour profile.

The wine you like and taste good for your palate.

A vineyard is often the first thing that comes to mind as we imagine driving through wine country. Vineyard is the plantation where grapes are grown.

A winery is a licensed property that makes wine.

If you want to taste like a professional:

LOOK at the color and clarity

SWIRL to release the aromas

SNIFF to prepare your palate

SIP and enjoy the complexities

Spit into a “dump bucket” if you don’t want to get inebriated.

AGEING WINE

Why is wine aged in Oak barrels?

French Oak x American Oak; aged for 18 months in new French Oak or also that wine aged for 22 months in American Oak… very common terms in the wine industry.

French Oak is very popular for oak aging premium wines providing that soft spice and toasty flavours.  American Oak imparts a lot of flavor and brings notes as dill, coconut, and vanilla.

Aging in an Oak barrel is an important part of the maturation process for most red and some white wines, allowing time for the wine to integrate and find balance. Ageing for a certain period of time makes the wine gets exposed to small amounts of oxygen through the pores of the wood allowing for a slow oxidation over time.
